Welcome to the birthplace of Yoga For The Road, founded by Sassyangelac.

One of the best things about yoga is that it can be practiced anywhere, not just within a studio.  Therefore, one of the best things about being a yoga teacher without a home studio is that he or she can take yoga anywhere.  Yoga For the Road is mobile, flexible, and ultimately accessible, taught by a guest teacher, a substitute teacher, a visiting teacher, or a teacher who brings yoga to you wherever you might be in Central Arkansas. Welcome to Yoga For The Road ®.

Imagine the timeless metaphor of life as a journey and yoga as a practice that transcends the class environment and travels that journey right along with you.  That's Yoga For The Road.  Imagine practicing with respect for your body as it is right now, wherever you might on that journey, and that's also Yoga For The Road.  Yoga is also a journey; a daily practice of wellness with as many hills and valleys and turns as life itself.  While performance-based exercise always has a goal and therefore values the end game as most important, practice-based exercise values the process, with each step forward being just as important as the last step.  This is the inspiration for yoga practice at Yoga For The Road.

As teachers and business partners, Angela Gattin, RYT 200 (Sassy) and Leigha Jones, RYT 200 bring our passion for unpretentious yoga to the vision of building partnerships between the yoga communities of Central Arkansas through Yoga For The Road.  As yoga continues to grow in Conway, Cabot, Little Rock, North Little Rock, Benton/Bryant, and Hot Springs, our goal is to serve as a partner rather than a competitor by building relationships with existing studios and schools to eliminate canceled yoga classes.  By forming a network of support between yoga communities, we hope to open up opportunities for guest teaching, substitute teaching, and work sharing at your local yoga studio, school, workshop, or fitness center. Yoga For The Road is also easily adapted for individual yoga instruction for anyone who seeks to develop a yoga practice outside of a structured class or studio environment.  However, all levels of yoga practitioners are welcome at our local classes taught in Benton and Malvern.

Number of class cancellations prevented by Yoga For The Road partnerships to date:  13

Yoga For The Road is a blend of several yoga styles.  Sassy's practice comes from a strong Iyengar background while Leigha's practice is rooted in styles inspired by power yoga.  Both teachers are trained in classical hatha yoga and rely upon props and modifications to make the practice relevant for everyone, not just the naturally bendy people. The practice is progressive. It promotes the concept of starting where you are now and building the most strength, balance, and flexibility available to you for the yoga to come as the practice develops.

This is yoga at a slower, more attentive pace that is more process-oriented and less goal-oriented and a yoga teacher more interested in making your practice fulfilling than making your practice perfect. Yoga For The Road is yoga for living, not yoga for posing.

Yoga For The Road is ideal for experienced yogis as a way to take a refreshing break and revitalize an established practice. For new yogis, Yoga For The Road represents a gentle introduction for those who may find other yoga styles or classes a bit daunting in the beginning.  No one is too old, too fat, too injured, or too inflexible to benefit from yoga!
